What Is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care is a drug-free, non-surgical approach to healing and wellness. A highly-trained chiropractor can relieve pain and prevent further injury by improving the structural integrity of the body. The brain communicates with the rest of the body via the spinal cord and nervous system. When functioning perfectly, this communication is uninterrupted, and the messages go to and from the brain without interference. A perfect example of interferrence would be a lumbar disc herniation pressing on a nerve root resulting in sciatica (tingling, numbness, or pain radiating down one or both legs). Traditionally, chiropractors have focused on relieving such interference by spinal manipulation.

Addressing the Root of the Problem

The nervous system serves as the body's wiring. If the nerves are inhibited, the proper signal does not reach the intended body part, and a variety of symptoms may result. Such interferences can manifest anywhere along your spine. Pain in your arm or hand may actually be caused by a pinched nerve in your neck, where the nerves connecting to that hand originate. Dr. Lane can examine you to determine the source of your pain and implement a plan specific for your condition to reduce symptoms and increase range of motion and function.

Rehabilitation

Dr. Lane specializes in rehabilitation. In addition to dealing with structural problems of the spine, Dr. Lane expands his focus to the entire neuro-musculo-skeletal system. What is this? The neuro-musculo-skeletal system is comprised of all the nerves, muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, and joints in your body. We are here to treat any injury from a sprained ankle and joint fixations (loss of range of motion at a segment), muscle imbalance, disc herniations, muscle weakness, or neurological defficits. As an evidence-based practicioner, Dr. Lane uses a variety of techniques depending upon your injury. These techniques might include physical medicine, soft tissue therapy (myofascial release, active release, Graston, etc.), KinesioTape, exercise, nutrition, and/or manipulation. At Lane Chiropractic and Rehabilitation, each patient is unique and so is the prescribed treatment.

Established Practice

According to The Association of Chiropractic Colleges, chiropractic care focuses on the relationship of structure and function (as coordinated by the nervous system), and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of your health. Qualified chiropractors are professional medical practitioners, delivering care at a fraction of the cost of drug treatments and surgery. Don't put up with pain.
