Treatment Techniques We Use

Diversified Technique is the most common manipulative therapy (adjustment) technique employed by chiropractors.  Like many chiropractic and osteopathic manipulative techniques, Diversified is characterized by a high velocity, low amplitude thrust.  Diversified is considered the most generic chiropractic manipulative technique and is differentiated from other techniques in that its objective is to restore proper movement and alignment of the spine and improve joint function.  The Diversified Technique remains the principal system taught at National University of Health Sciences, New York Chiropractic College, Northwestern College of Chiropractic, Southern California University of Health Sciences, and Texas Chiropractic College.  Manipulation is a common technique used to treat neck pain and back pain.

McKenzie:  Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy

This is our preferred method for examining patients with back, neck, arm, or leg pain or symptoms. It is also one of the most widely accepted forms of conservative treatment for a herniated disc. Developed by Robyn McKenzie, a physical therapist in New Zealand, MDT is well established in the research literature. Trigger Point Therapy
The primary purpose of Trigger Point Therapy is to reduce the pain that results from hypersensitive muscles. Trigger points are identified by gently pressing on the surface of the skin, sensing the texture of the underlying muscle.

Myofascial Release

Depending upon your diagnosis, we might advise you against certain movements - especially during the acute stage. When this is the case or when there is nerve irritation, certain muscle groups will tend to become hypertonic or "stiff and tight". We frequently utilize deep tissue myofascial release techniques to relax the muscles and overlying fascia, thereby reducing symptoms.

Physical Medicine
Every patient we see is instructed in a home therapy program specific to their condition. These are all simple, but challenging, exercises designed to improve your condition while not requiring you to have a gym membership. Many simple exercises can be used to relieve knee, ankle, shoulder or rotator cuff pain as well as tennis elbow, sports injuries, or sprains and strains from auto accidents.
